The biggest DMZ intel drop yet is here. Infinity Ward has published the first part of its Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Deep Dive, offering a much closer look at Hajin, the new Exclusion Zone players will deploy into when the game launches on October 23.

Hajin is more than just a new map

Hajin is being built as a persistent extraction environment where Operators loot, complete objectives, fight AI forces and rival players, and decide when to extract with what they have secured. The new Deep Dive also introduces a dynamic Threat Level system: every area has an expected level of danger, while aggressive actions can escalate the response from enemy forces.

Vehicles return as a core part of DMZ

Hajin includes transportation across land, rail, water and air. Vehicles require fuel and repairs in DMZ, with Gas Stations serving as important resupply points. Infinity Ward has already confirmed vehicles including the Train , Tram , RHIB , Heli , Heavy Chopper and Monarch extraction helicopter.

  • MonarchVehicle · Used for standard extraction

Extraction has more than one option

  • Standard exfil sites use the Monarch helicopter and are marked by green smoke.
  • Operators must hold the extraction area while enemy pressure increases.
  • Alternate extraction methods include a Fulton balloon and Flare.
  • Exfil sites are dangerous ambush points, especially against other squads.

“Call of Duty’s definitive extraction shooter experience”

— Infinity Ward is clearly positioning the new DMZ as a major pillar of Modern Warfare 4 rather than a small secondary mode.

The FOB will be the heart of progression

Outside deployments, the Forward Operating Base (FOB) acts as the player’s command center. The first Deep Dive confirms that it grows as players complete Operations and contains more than a dozen Stations. Initial systems include Active Duty Operators, Stash and Loadouts, DMZ Orders, a Firing Range and Survival Kits.

More DMZ intel is coming

Infinity Ward says Part 2 of the DMZ Deep Dive will focus specifically on the Forward Operating Base, including 3D Printer crafting, Bounties, weapon acquisition, Stashes and Loadouts, Active Duty Operators, Operator Prestiging, Permanent Prestige Traits and progression up to Level 70.
